2018 eCommerce Trend
The past year saw tremendous growth for eTailers and continued disruption for traditional brick and mortar retailers, the question now is what lies ahead for eCommerce in 2018? Like you we have been reading stories with predictions for eCommerce in the upcoming year and would like to present what we think are the themes and questions we all should be following: Growth in Mobile Sales Consumers demonstrated ever growing confidence in shopping on their Mobile devices in 2017 with sales increasing 44% during the key Thanksgiving sales week alone. Will this trend continue in 2018? That seems a very safe bet as experts predict that our increasingly active society will turn away from desktop computers and to Mobile devices for their shopping in even greater numbers in 2018 The challenge for eTailers will be to provide a better, faster and unified shopping experience across every device their customers use to make it easy for shoppers to move from device to device while still maintaining a sense of brand loyalty. What will Amazon do? Well that is more question than prediction.
Recapping the 2017 Holiday Season
The holiday season has come and gone. Putting away your decorations, while getting yourself back to basics is quite important. Now with 2018 in full swing, it’s a great time to reflect on what was. In a new article written by Digital Commerce 360, we learned that eCommerce sales increased 18.1% from November 1 through Christmas Eve 2017. With how easy it was to shop, it also made it a lot easier to return products as well. UPS reports, that during the month of December, roughly 1 million packages a day were returned to retailers. This trend is looking to continue through the beginning parts of January. January 3, UPS National Returns Day, roughly 1.4 million packages are expected to be returned. We will share more of these stats and more information on January 11, during our Holiday 2017 Recap webinar.

Holiday Returns – When Less Truly is Better Than More
You’ve wrapped all your gifts and now you wait and see if the person you bought the gift for actually likes the gift. Starting December 26, it’s the most wonderful time of the year for that rare person who loves to take a thoughtful gift and return it for something they want even more. According to Ryder eCommerce and the National Retail Federation, 17.8% of holiday purchases sold in 2021 were returned. Now why the high return rates? Did someone else get the same gift? Did they get the wrong size or color if it was a piece of clothing? Multichannel Merchant did some research on an online fashion retailer who dropped their return rate to under 20% by providing their customers more insight to the product they were selling. A range of projects from size charts, adding more detailed photos and having their customer service reps enter in feedback from customers on fit and product quality helped them dramatically lower their return rate. Why not consider a system that can handle this for you and more? With Freestyle
